Different Types of Oil Seals
As shown in Figure 1, sealing devices come in two types: contact and non-contact.
Oil seals are among the major contact type sealing devices.

Fluid Types - Various oil seals are able to withstand interactions with oils, fuels, grease, water and more. Knowing what type of fluid the rotary shaft seal will be in constant contact with will ensure the longevity of the seal and surrounding components.
A reputable spark plug supplier should also offer a diverse product range to cater to various vehicle types and engine configurations. From standard spark plugs for everyday cars to high-performance units for racing vehicles, a comprehensive catalog demonstrates the supplier's understanding of the market's diverse needs.MS
When selecting the oil seal that is right for your machine, it is important that the oil seal be appropriate for the requirements of the usage environment and that it be easily acquired for replacement.
In this month's column, How to select the right oil seal, we conveyed the following points:
1) Oil seal shape and material should be selected based on the housing, substance to be sealed, pressure, rotational speed, total eccentricity, and air-side conditions.
2) Oil seals can show good sealing performance in combination with properly designed shafts and housings.
3) Oil seal performance is affected by not only the type and material of the selected oil seal, but also a variety of other factors, such as operating conditions, total eccentricity, rotational speed, the substance to be sealed, and lubrication conditions. For this reason, diligent care is required in oil seal selection.
■Anti-wear agents: Anti-wear agents help protect parts of the engine that are especially susceptible to damage from high temperatures, like cylinder walls, lifters, cams, and piston rings. This additive acts as a protective layer around these components to limit friction in metal-on-metal situations.
One of the most significant factors in choosing a valve cover gasket is compatibility. You need to be certain that the gasket you select is designed specifically for the make and year of your vehicle. Failure to do so could result in a poor seal, leading to oil leaks, engine noise, and reduced performance. Fortunately, many auto parts manufacturers offer universal valve cover gaskets that can fit a wide range of engines. However, if you opt for a universal gasket, it's essential to check its fitment before installation.OS/MOS: Designates if dimensions are displayed in inches or millimeters
